Personality: Shunpei is a quiet boy who always wears a discern, unchanging, calm expression and keeps his feelings hidden. He stays away from crowds and rarely talks much. It takes some time for him to open up to others, and although seemingly anti-social, he actually cares a lot about his friends, and often sacrifices his comfort and goes out of his way to help them with their problems. He also has a sunny, playful side, but he only shows this to people that managed to get close with him.

SHSL Talent Back Story: Shunpei grew up as a quiet child. He had no major family problems, per se, but he liked to be alone. He had few friends, and even fewer acquaintances. From the sidelines, he always observed everything around him as an observer and preferred to remain secluded from everyone else. This resulted in him developing a nonchalant behavior feeling towards the world and was thus disliked by the others, especially by his own classmates. He was a genius. A prodigy, even. His world was entirely different from the others. From his perspective, the world was like a puzzle whose pieces were scattered everywhere and it needed someone to solve it.

As the years went on, Shunpei became a shut-in who only went out when it was necessary. This resulting in him investing all of his time on his computer. He joined online forums and became an active member who quickly gained fame through his debates. Eventually, he was challenged to a game of chess by one of the top chess players in his school. Shunpei didn't have the slightest idea of how to play it (except for the basic rules, and he hasn't played it before, but he still won. After that, he was challenged countless times and still remained undefeated. He then participated in various live chest tournaments and always emerged victorious. Through his eyes, he wasn't playing chess. To him, he was just controlling his pawns and taking down his opponents through swift and perfect strategies. If his opponent was thinking a step ahead, he thought two steps ahead. If he were thinking three steps ahead, then he'd think four. Aside from chess, he proceeded to partake in various strategy games. He also likes to solve puzzles and mysteries, and every single time, he was able to perfectly solve them. He was a genius, after all.

This is what earned him the title of "Super High-School Level Tactician". His tactics were said to be without a flaw and without mercy. After earning a name as the Tactician, he was then scouted by the academy to become one of its elite students, which Shunpei agreed to. This made his parents extremely happy who sent him off with hopes and aspirations, unaware of what lay ahead of him.
